Truly, I love working in the studio. It’s like a playground where every toy is arranged for and by you.
Perhaps it’s because I worked in Hollywood, where every gizmo and do-dad is available for rent; and if it is not, it will be made for the cinematographer.
As a photographer I have always kept that can-do attitude of any shot being possible if it is approached in an intelligent / creative way.
In the studio, you are no longer at the whim of the world around; you can retract into yourself and your imagination alone. Photographers use the studio much like any other artist would, we go in, shut the door to everything else and compose or manipulate. All in an attempt to graphically portray what is, in all probability, ineffable.
